| News & Events This Murray to Moyne Fundraiser A cheque for $15,000 was presented to Windarring from the Kyneton Ambulance Auxilliary and Kyneton Cycling Club ‘Murray to Moyne Relay’ team. Windarring staff member Phil Gamble also participated and received the highest total of sponsorship Gisborne Project Approved In April 2009 the Minister for Community Services approved $500,000 to be spent on refurbishing the Gisborne Community Centre to enable the Gisborne Service to collocate and integrate with other community services rather than remain as a segregated service. The new premises will be operational about May 2010. Participants Star at the Castlemaine State Arts Festival Several participants from the Castlemaine service performed ‘The Democratic Set’ at the highly acclaimed Castlemaine Festival. The production was the directed by Back to Back Theatre. Wow what a performance! Opening of New Gisborne Copy Centre The third of Windarring’s Copy Centres found a permanent home in a new shopping complex in Gisborne. The Copy Centre is now funded by the Federal Department, FaHCSIA to employ 6 Supported Employees. Safari Club Expands The Safari Club extednded services to Castlemaine during 2008/9 Additional funding was received from Carers Support (Bendigo Health Care Group) to enable more week end activities for under 15year olds. Complex Communication Service Receives Extended Funding The CC Initiative operates across all Windarring Support Service Additional Funding from DHS enabled this important initiative to continue in 2008/9. Local Businesses Supports Vocational Opportunities More local Kyneton businesses have agreed to support participants in work experience to enhance pathways to future employment opportunities. |
